Your Income Bank allows you to earn credits where your income is less than $437 a fortnight. Who has one. You have an Income Bank if you get a certain payment. How it works. You can earn up to $437 a fortnight under the personal income test before we reduce your payment.
We’re able to process payments once we receive them. We begin our processing at 2:30pm AEDT and it finishes at midnight, so the time it’s deposited will depend on the time we receive it. You won’t be paid on a date later than what is shown on the Centrelink website.

To check your balance:
- Sign in to your Centrelink online account through myGov.
- Select MENU then Payments and Claims.
- Select Manage payments, then My payments.
But how much you earn will affect your payment. We’ll start to reduce your payment if your income is over $437 a fortnight. The Income Bank can help you keep more of your payment. You can get credits if your income is less than $437 a fortnight.

On a weekly basis, Centrelink deposits benefits welfare payments with The Reserve Bank on Thursday nights. Recipients with Commonwealth Bank accounts would usually have recieved the payment by Saturday morning, but over the weekend welfare recipients reported not recieving the payments until Sunday.
If you report late, your payment could be late. If you don’t report and you’re meant to, we won’t pay you. You can report online up to 13 days after your reporting date. If you’re more than 13 days late, you need to call us on your regular payment line.
The limit is a total of both: $10,000 in one financial year, and. $30,000 in 5 financial years – this can’t include more than $10,000 in any year.
$5,500 if you’re single with no dependants. $11,000 if have a partner or you’re single with dependants.
Can government see my bank account?
Government agencies, like the Internal Revenue Service, can access your personal bank account. If you owe taxes to a governmental agency, the agency may place a lien or freeze a bank account in your name. Furthermore, government agencies may also confiscate funds in the bank account.
If your myGov details are incorrect and don’t match your Medicare details. You’ll need to call either Online Services Support Hotline for help with your Centrelink online account or the ATO, if you have them linked. You’ll need to ask them to update your details before you can link other services to myGov.
The easiest way to update your bank details is by using your Centrelink online account or the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app. If you have a Veteran Gold Card, you’ll need to call us on 132 300 to update your bank details.
To add your bank details using the app, follow these steps. Open the app and enter your myGov PIN. Select My Profile, on the home screen. Online
- Sign in to your Medicare online account through myGov.
- Select Proceed to online account.
- Select Banking details.
- Enter your bank details, then select Submit.
